Does the length of the condom matter?

Yes it matters! Just like when we buy clothes we don't buy a size that is either too short or too long for us right? We have to find the perfect fit. Condoms come in many different shapes, condom by sizes and lengths. Finding the right fit can be arduous but if you find the perfect fit a satisfying sex is guaranteed!

Getting the right fit is important

Not only for increased pleasure. It’s a matter of safety, too. Having a condom that’s the right size can help you avoid an unwanted pregnancy and the risk of acquiring or transmitting sexually transmitted diseases. Condoms are 85% effective if used properly. That means we have to take into consideration that when choosing a condom, length is still a vital part to find the perfect fit.

If a condom is too short and doesn't fully cover your penis then it's more than an inconvenience. This can make condom less effective since it is not fully covering from STIs that can be transmitted through skin to skin contact.

If a condom is too long it will not unroll completely which can cause a rubber-band effect at the base of the penis. This may lead to tightness, discomfort, and decrease in sensation. If the condom does unroll, the extra length can hang off the tip of the penis and potentially cause it to slip or be pulled off. All of this can be solved if you find the perfect fit.

Penises vary in size,

Just as you need to wear the right-size clothes, you need a condom that fits well. If you buy condoms, it is a good idea to measure your penis first. Use a ruler or measuring tape to check the length of your erect penis. For length, measure from the base (lightly pressing on your pubic bone) to the tip of your penis. A ruler might be easier than measuring tape here. Note that you need an erect penis for the correct measurement. Going by length may be confusing because different condom manufactures use slightly different measurements, so what one manufacturer calls large may actually be standard for another. Because of this, standard condoms may have a length between 7.25 to 7.8 inches (184.15 to 198.12 mm); snug condoms may have a length of 7 to 7.8 (177.8 to 198.12 mm); large condoms length ranges from 7.25 to 8.1 inches (184.15 to 205.74 mm).

Ultimately, sex is about feeling great. And you won't feel great if you're uncomfortable right? So choose the perfect length for your condom and enjoy a safe and mindblowing sex!
